Movement fuels development, and play is the spark; together, they create the foundation for a child’s growth and wellbeing Movement and sensory experiences are so important for babies and young children, particularly the first 1001 days from conception to the 2nd birthday. This time is critical for brain development. If children struggle with sensorimotor skills, this can affect the interpretation of sensory information and may cause difficulties in motor planning and sequencing of movement which can then impact on engagement in daily tasks and occupations as the young person grows up. A supportive playful environment helps the brain forms stronger connections setting the future for learning, emotional health security and developmental growth.
